The Slurpee turns 60 this year and 7-Eleven is marking the occasion with free drinks, a new limited-time flavor and a handful of other deals available across the country today, July 11. The date is not a coincidence.
Free small Slurpees are available at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations nationwide. No purchase is necessary for the free small drink. Customers simply show up and claim one.
The new Slurpee flavor launched for the 60th anniversary
7-Eleven introduced a new limited-time flavor for the occasion. The Mountain Dew Confetti Chill Slurpee draws its inspiration from birthday cake. The flavor blends citrus notes with sweet vanilla icing to create what the company describes as a zesty lemon cake experience in frozen form. It joins the existing Slurpee lineup at participating stores while supplies last.
Commemorative 60th anniversary cups are also available at stores today, giving the celebration a tangible keepsake for fans who want more than just the drink.
How to get more out of Slurpee Day beyond the free drink
Select 7-Eleven and Speedway locations are also hosting a Slurpee Date experience. These stores feature a photo-op setup, commemorative keepsakes and limited-edition bedazzled double straws shaped like the letter S, designed to mark the diamond anniversary.
Rewards members get additional value on top of the free small Slurpee. Speedy Rewards and 7Rewards members can pick up a classic glazed doughnut for 50 cents today. A 7-Select Birthday Cake Snack Pie is also available for $1.
Customers who placed a delivery order through the 7NOW app on Friday, July 10, with a minimum $20 purchase qualified for a free large Slurpee, an upgrade on the standard free small drink available today. The 7NOW app, which 7-Eleven launched in 2018, offers access to more than 20,000 products for delivery around the clock.
Why the Slurpee’s 60th anniversary matters
The Slurpee has been a fixture of American convenience store culture since 1966. Six decades later it remains one of the most recognized frozen drinks in the world. Few products carry the kind of generational staying power that comes with being part of childhood memories across multiple decades for millions of people. The free Slurpee Day tradition amplifies that connection by turning a birthday into a shared moment for customers everywhere who grew up with the drink.
