Druski is turning one of his biggest viral comedy moments into a full series, and Mike Epps is joining him for the ride.
The comedian confirmed that “Collect and Praise” is coming to Netflix and YouTube this November. The series is based on his viral “Mega Church Pastors Love Money” sketch.
The announcement marks another major step for Druski, whose comedy has continued to move from social media into mainstream entertainment.
Druski’s viral sketch becomes a series
The original “Mega Church Pastors Love Money” sketch became a massive online hit.
According to Blex Media, the sketch pulled more than 43 million views within its first 24 hours before eventually surpassing 60 million views.
That response helped turn a social media comedy bit into a much bigger opportunity.
Now, Druski is expanding the concept with “Collect and Praise,” giving viewers a full series built around the world that made the original sketch such a hit.
Mike Epps joins Druski
Mike Epps is also coming aboard the project, adding another major comedy name to the series.
The collaboration brings together two generations of comedy talent as Druski expands his digital success into a larger television and streaming project.
“Collect and Praise” will arrive on Netflix and YouTube in November, giving fans multiple ways to watch the new series.
Druski bet on himself
The road to the series was not straightforward.
Druski revealed during his conversation with Steve Bartlett on “The Diary of a CEO” that Netflix, FX and Amazon initially passed on his pitch.
Instead of abandoning the idea, he decided to fund the original sketch himself.
That gamble paid off when the sketch exploded online.
After seeing its enormous response, the companies that initially passed on the concept reportedly came back around.
The experience gave Druski a powerful lesson about believing in an idea before everyone else sees its potential.
A new Netflix movie is also coming
The comedian is not stopping with “Collect and Praise.”
Druski also revealed that he has a new movie in development at Netflix.
The upcoming film adds another project to his growing entertainment portfolio as he continues building beyond short-form comedy.
From a self-funded viral sketch to a Netflix series and a movie in development, Druski is turning his online comedy success into a larger Hollywood career.
