Lil Durk’s second federal trial has been postponed as he prepares for a November bond review hearing.
The Chicago rapper had a trial date of Oct. 5 for a separate VICAR case. However, XXL reported Sept. 29 that a source close to the situation confirmed the court will push that date back.
Durk’s next scheduled court appearance will take place Nov. 4. During that hearing, his attorneys will seek his release on bond while he awaits the second trial.
Lil Durk awaits new trial date
The upcoming case involves VICAR, or Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering, charges.
The court previously separated those allegations from Durk’s murder-for-hire case. As a result, the rapper still faces a separate federal proceeding despite his recent acquittal.
Durk had originally faced trial on the VICAR charges beginning Oct. 5. However, the November bond hearing now comes before the second trial. That scheduling change indicates that the court will hear the bond request first.
The court has not announced a new trial date in the latest reports.
Durk seeks bond after acquittal
Durk remains in federal custody despite his recent legal victory.
On Sept. 11, a federal jury found him not guilty on all charges in his murder-for-hire case. The verdict included the charges connected to the 2022 killing of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
However, the acquittal did not end Durk’s legal battle.
He still faces the separate VICAR case. His attorneys now want the court to consider releasing him while that case moves forward.
A federal judge scheduled the bond review for Nov. 4 after Durk’s attorneys requested the hearing.
What happens next for Lil Durk
For now, Durk will remain in custody while his legal team prepares for the bond hearing.
The court will consider whether he can receive bond before the separate trial begins.
Meanwhile, prosecutors will continue pursuing the remaining case against him.
Durk has pleaded not guilty to the allegations in the separate case.
His attorneys have also indicated that they plan to challenge the remaining charges. According to XXL, the defense intends to file motions that could seek dismissal of the second case.
The court has not yet set a new date for Durk’s VICAR trial.
For now, Nov. 4 remains the key date in his next court appearance.
