Rapper Blueface was arrested Monday night in Santa Clarita, California, after deputies responded to a report of a man pointing a gun at someone inside a business in Valencia.
According to Baller Alert, authorities received the call at approximately 7:43 p.m. Deputies detained several people at the scene, including Blueface, during their response to the reported threat.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reportedly said the rapper refused to follow commands. Authorities booked him into the Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of delaying a law enforcement investigation.
However, the reported gun threat turned out to be a swatting hoax. Swatting involves making a false emergency report to trigger a law enforcement response, potentially placing the people involved in danger.
Blueface Linked to Multiple Reported Swatting Incidents
The latest incident reportedly marks at least the fourth swatting incident associated with Blueface since August.
Previous incidents included a reported gunpoint detainment at his King of Crabs restaurant and two calls to his home in early October. These incidents have brought additional attention to the repeated false emergency reports involving the rapper.
Swatting can have serious consequences because responding officers may believe they are approaching an active threat. False reports can also divert emergency resources from genuine emergencies.
Although the latest call was reportedly determined to be a hoax, the circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation into the caller remain important details.
Blueface Remains on Probation in Las Vegas Shooting Case
Blueface is also reportedly on probation following his guilty plea in connection with a 2022 Las Vegas shooting case.
The rapper’s probation status adds another legal consideration to his latest arrest. However, the reported arrest on suspicion of delaying an investigation does not, by itself, establish that he violated his probation.
Any potential probation consequences would depend on the terms of his supervision and the outcome of the relevant legal proceedings.
What Happens Next for Blueface?
Blueface’s latest arrest follows a series of reported swatting incidents involving false threats against him and locations associated with him.
Authorities have reportedly identified the latest call as a hoax. However, further details about the investigation, the circumstances of the arrest and any potential charges remain unclear.
The case highlights the dangers of swatting and the disruption false emergency reports can cause for individuals, businesses and law enforcement.
