Burger King is giving Hello Kitty fans a new reason to visit its restaurants. Starting October 20, the fast-food chain is launching a limited-edition Hello Kitty and Friends King Jr. Kids’ Meal featuring mystery collectible toys.
The collaboration brings together Burger King and Sanrio, the company behind Hello Kitty and her popular friends. However, there is a special twist. Each meal includes one surprise toy, so collectors will have to open the box to discover which character they receive.
Even better, some fans could find a rare golden Hello Kitty figurine as part of the promotion.
Burger King introduces six mystery toys
The new King Jr. Kids’ Meal features six collectible figures. The lineup includes Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi and a golden-colored Hello Kitty.
Each character wears a Burger King crown, giving the familiar Sanrio characters a playful fast-food makeover. Meanwhile, the mystery box packaging adds an element of surprise to every purchase.
Instead of choosing a specific character, customers discover their toy after opening the box. As a result, collectors hoping to complete the set may need more than one visit.
The launch has already generated excitement among fans online. In a post shared by Instagram account @snackolator, users expressed interest in finding the golden Hello Kitty figure.
One commenter highlighted the rare golden collectible, while another joked about spending money to get the toys. Others welcomed the collaboration between the two popular brands.
What comes with the Hello Kitty meal?
Besides the collectible toy, the King Jr. Kids’ Meal includes an entrée, a side and a drink.
Customers can choose a hamburger, cheeseburger or chicken nuggets. For the side, options include French fries, applesauce or onion rings.
There are several drink choices as well. These include white milk, chocolate milk, apple juice, lemonade and value-size soft drinks.
In addition, the promotion features a Hello Kitty-themed crown. This gives young fans another way to enjoy the Sanrio collaboration beyond collecting the figures.
The meal is available for a limited time at participating Burger King locations while supplies last. Therefore, fans interested in the toys may want to check availability at their nearest restaurant.
Golden Hello Kitty adds to the excitement
The collectible lineup includes a golden-colored Hello Kitty, but the promotion goes beyond the standard toy release.
Burger King is also planning a special Golden Claw Machine event in Downey, California, on October 23. The event will take place at the restaurant located at 10014 Paramount Boulevard.
Beginning at 11 a.m. Pacific Time, eligible participants will have an opportunity to try grabbing a Hello Kitty toy from the custom machine. The promotion features a unique Hello Kitty figurine plated in 14-karat gold, with only one made.
However, the event has specific rules. The promotion is scheduled to run until 5 p.m. Pacific Time or until all prizes are claimed, whichever comes first. Eligibility restrictions apply, and interested participants should review the official rules at the restaurant.
The California event adds another collectible incentive to the wider launch. Still, customers outside the area can enjoy the regular King Jr. meal promotion at participating locations.
Burger King and Sanrio tap into collectible culture
Hello Kitty first appeared in 1974 and has since become a globally recognized character. Over the years, Sanrio has expanded the character’s popularity through merchandise, collaborations and other entertainment projects.
Meanwhile, Burger King continues to use themed meals and brand partnerships to attract customers. Its latest collaboration gives families and longtime Hello Kitty fans another reason to visit.
Ultimately, the appeal goes beyond the food. The mystery packaging, familiar characters and possibility of finding a rare golden figure make the launch a collectible experience.
Fans can check the Burger King website or app for participating locations and availability. Since the toys are available for a limited time, collectors should check with their local restaurant before visiting.
