Kim Kardashian reportedly became furious after Paris Hilton repeatedly canceled interviews for Kardashian’s authorized biography, Citizen Kim. The book’s author says he tried to speak with Hilton 17 times, but the interview never happened.
Jonathan Van Meter shared the details in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He said the cancellations stretched across roughly four months and added an unexpected twist to his research.
I sent questions, connected with Paris’ assistant, and then the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months, Van Meter said.
Paris Hilton canceled 17 interviews, author says
Van Meter explained that Kardashian helped him connect with several people for the book. In many cases, she simply sent a text to arrange an interview.
However, the process looked different with Hilton. Van Meter said he had to work through her team and coordinate with her assistant.
Despite those efforts, the interview fell through repeatedly. Eventually, Van Meter decided the cancellations told a more interesting story than anything Hilton might have said during the conversation.
He did not explain why Hilton kept canceling. The available report also does not include Hilton’s response to his account.
Kim Kardashian reportedly reacted with anger
Van Meter said Kardashian was so mad when he told her about the repeated cancellations.
He believed the situation brought old tensions between the women back to the surface. He described the dynamic as the creation turning on the creator, pointing to Hilton’s early role in Kardashian’s rise to public attention.
That reaction adds another layer to the women’s long history. However, Van Meter’s comments do not establish exactly what Kardashian felt or why the situation affected her so strongly beyond his account of their conversation.
Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton have a long history
Kardashian and Hilton became connected years before Kardashian built her own reality television and business empire. Kardashian worked as Hilton’s stylist and closet organizer during Hilton’s rise to fame.
Kardashian also appeared alongside Hilton during the early years of The Simple Life. Their friendship helped introduce Kardashian to a wider audience before her own television career took off.
Over time, Kardashian developed a separate public identity through reality television, fashion and business ventures. Their relationship has remained a point of interest because of their shared history and changing public profiles.
The biography took an unexpected turn
Citizen Kim, written by Van Meter, examines Kardashian’s life and career through interviews with her, her family, friends and associates.
Hilton’s repeated cancellations became an unexpected part of the reporting process. Instead of providing an interview for the biography, her absence gave Van Meter another story to consider.
Still, the reason for the cancellations remains unclear. Hilton has not provided an explanation in the reports available, and the account does not confirm a new falling-out between the two women.
For now, the story centers on Van Meter’s description of the failed interview attempts and Kardashian’s reported reaction. The episode offers another glimpse into the complicated history behind two women whose paths first crossed long before Kardashian became a global celebrity.
