Lil Durk could be released from prison as early as next week as he seeks bond while awaiting his second federal trial. The Chicago rapper has received support from JAY-Z, J. Cole and Saviay’a Robinson’s mother ahead of his upcoming bond hearing.
According to Complex Music, the three parties have written to Judge Fitzgerald in support of Durk’s request for bond. His hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4.
However, his potential release remains uncertain. The judge must consider his request before he can leave custody.
JAY-Z and J. Cole support Lil Durk’s release
The letters from JAY-Z and J. Cole add to the support Durk has received as he attempts to secure his release from prison.
According to Complex Music, Saviay’a Robinson’s mother has also written to the judge in support of his bond request. Their letters come as Durk prepares for another major court proceeding.
TrapLoreRoss has suggested that the rapper could be released as early as next week. However, that possibility depends on the outcome of his bond hearing.
The letters do not guarantee his release. Judge Fitzgerald will determine whether Durk can be granted bond while awaiting his next trial.
Lil Durk remains in custody after acquittal
Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, remains behind bars despite being found not guilty on all counts in his federal murder-for-hire trial.
His acquittal marked a significant development in the case. Nevertheless, it did not automatically secure his release because he still faces a separate federal racketeering case.
The rapper is awaiting his second trial, which is scheduled for August 2027. Until then, his legal team is seeking bond to allow him to leave custody while preparing for the proceedings.
The distinction between the two cases is important. Although Durk was acquitted in the murder-for-hire trial, the pending racketeering case remains unresolved.
Second trial scheduled for August 2027
Durk’s next federal trial is scheduled for August 2027. The case means his legal battle could continue for several more months.
His upcoming bond hearing on Nov. 4 could determine whether he remains in custody or is permitted to await trial outside prison.
For now, the support letters from JAY-Z, J. Cole and Robinson’s mother have drawn attention to his latest attempt to secure release.
However, no release date has been confirmed. The outcome of the hearing will determine the next step in Durk’s legal proceedings.
