The 2026 NBA Draft Combine brought together the best prospects in this year’s class for shooting drills, agility tests, vertical jumps, live scrimmages, and interviews in front of NBA scouts and executives. Moreover, the event made it clear that this draft class is one of the most athletic and versatile groups in years. Furthermore, several players dramatically boosted their stock with standout performances across multiple testing categories.

The NBA’s new AWS-powered data hub gave scouts and fans the ability to compare prospects against 25 years of historical combine data. Consequently, every number carried more weight than ever before. Additionally, the combine underscored how much the modern NBA values shooting versatility, positionless play, length, and defensive switching ability over traditional positional roles.

The 5 biggest winners from the combine

Five prospects separated themselves from the field with performances that left scouts, executives, and analysts talking well beyond the final buzzer of the last scrimmage session.

AJ Dybantsa — Dybantsa was the most talked-about prospect at the entire combine. He posted the best max vertical leap at the event, reaching roughly 42 inches. Additionally, he showed explosive transition dunks, fast lateral movement in agility drills, smooth pull-up shooting, and impressive body control during scrimmages. Scouts already viewed him as a potential No. 1 overall pick before the combine. His performance in Chicago strengthened that belief significantly.

Cameron Boozer — Boozer impressed through polished fundamentals rather than raw explosiveness. He showed strong rebounding drills, advanced post footwork, a reliable mid-range scoring touch, excellent passing reads, and quick movement for his size. His unofficial testing numbers included a 35-inch max vertical and strong lane agility times. Moreover, analysts believe he locked himself in as one of the safest top-three picks in the draft.

Darryn Peterson — Peterson stood out as the most polished offensive guard in the class. He delivered step-back jumpers, deep three-pointers, tight ball-handling drills, controlled rim finishes, and smooth isolation scoring throughout the event. Furthermore, his confidence during media sessions reinforced his reputation as a prospect with genuine superstar offensive upside.

Caleb Wilson — Wilson brought two-way versatility that few other prospects in the class can match. He showcased shot-blocking drills, transition finishes, perimeter shooting, quick defensive footwork, and athletic dunks during scrimmages. His combination of length and mobility made him one of the most intriguing prospects at the event.

Ja’Kobi Gillespie — Gillespie was the biggest surprise winner from the live scrimmage sessions. He reportedly scored 28 points in one scrimmage game while also contributing assists and steals. Additionally, his fast-break finishes and active defense under pressure dramatically boosted his draft stock heading into the final weeks before draft night.

Shooting drills became a major storyline

The combine dedicated significant time to official shooting workouts. Players participated in spot-up three-point shooting, off-dribble pull-up shooting, star shooting drills, and mid-range movement sequences. Several prospects used the shooting sessions to improve their reputations and climb draft boards.

Zuby Ejiofor, Keaton Wagler, and Darius Acuff Jr. all drew strong reactions from scouts during the shooting portions of the combine. Moreover, their performances reinforced a broader trend. NBA teams now place enormous value on shooting versatility even for big men and defensive specialists who might previously have been evaluated purely on physical tools.

Athletic testing produced viral moments

Some of the most entertaining clips from the combine involved raw athletic testing. Sprint races, shuttle runs, vertical leap attempts, wingspan measurements, and explosive dunks generated significant online reactions in real time.

Koa Peat, Kingston Flemings, and Chris Cenac Jr. all drew major attention for their physical tools and explosiveness during testing. Furthermore, their numbers gave scouts additional data points to compare against the historical combine database that AWS now powers for the league.
