Disney World is no stranger to change. But 2026 has brought a wave of updates that are dividing fans.

Ride closures, rising prices, and land transformations are driving much of the discussion. Guests are also reacting to new experiences replacing older attractions. Many say the balance between nostalgia and innovation feels uneven.

Across online communities, fans have pointed to seven major concerns. These range from emotional losses to practical frustrations. While Disney continues to introduce new projects, many guests question what is being left behind.

DinoLand U.S.A. closure and loss of dinosaur

One of the biggest changes is the closure of DinoLand U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom. Disney shut down the area in early 2026. That includes the DINOSAUR attraction and surrounding experiences.

Disney is replacing the land with a Tropical Americas theme. It will feature Encanto and Indiana Jones elements. Disney has framed the project as a major upgrade.

Some fans are not convinced. Many say they feel a strong emotional attachment to the original area. Others call it a piece of park history they will miss.

Rivers of America transformation at Magic Kingdom

Another major change affects the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. Disney plans to replace the area with a Cars-themed expansion.

The waterway has long offered quiet views inside Magic Kingdom. Fans say it helped balance the park’s constant energy.

Now, many worry the new project will remove one of the park’s calmest spaces. They also say it replaces atmosphere with more construction and density.

 Muppets changes spark mixed reactions

The Muppets saw major changes in 2026 at Hollywood Studios. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster reopened with a Muppets theme. The Electric Mayhem now leads the ride experience.

At the same time, MuppetVision 3D closed in 2025. Fans still talk about that loss.

Some guests welcome the new ride. Others say it does not replace the original show. They describe the earlier attraction as more personal and unique.

Rising ticket prices and cost concerns

Cost remains a major concern for guests. Ticket prices and annual passes continue to rise in 2026.

Some annual passes now exceed $1,600. Many guests say the price feels harder to justify.

They point to closures and construction as part of the issue. Even with discounts, some say value feels lower than before.

Annual pass reservation frustration

Some Annual Passholders still face park reservation requirements. Disney has relaxed rules in some cases. However, the system has not gone away completely.

Many passholders say they miss spontaneity. They want the ability to visit without planning ahead.

They describe the process as restrictive compared to earlier years.

Accessibility policy concerns

Accessibility changes also draw strong reactions. Disney has updated its Disability Access Service policies.

Some guests say the new system does not meet their needs. Others say it improves clarity and structure.

The topic remains sensitive. Many guests say accessibility affects whether they can visit at all.

Small changes still spark strong reactions

Not all complaints involve major attractions. Some focus on food and smaller details.

One example is the removal of a popular dessert at Disney Springs. Guests reacted strongly to the change.

These moments show how personal Disney visits can be. Even small changes can matter deeply to returning guests.

A park balancing nostalgia and evolution

Disney World continues to add new experiences. It also continues to remove older ones.

That balance divides fans. Some welcome progress. Others miss what has been lost.

Many say the pace of change feels faster than before. They worry the parks are losing familiar details.

Still, Disney has more projects ahead. New lands and seasonal events continue into 2027 and beyond.

For now, 2026 remains a year of transition. Fans are watching closely as the parks continue to evolve.
