From Power Play to Power Move: PowerBook: Raising Kanan Star Hailey Kilgore Steps Into Her Own with Highly Anticipated New Single “Dangerous Game”

Apr. 22, 2025 / Celebrities+ Entertainment+ Music / Author: Astrid Ruiz

Best known for her Tony and Grammy-nominated turn as Ti Moune in the Broadway revival of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Hailey Kilgore has since gone on to star in multiple films, including the critically acclaimed RESPECT opposite Jennifer Hudson and the feature CINNAMON in which Hailey stars in the lead role. On the TV front, Hailey currently stars as Jukebox in Starz’s POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN and has had multiple memorable arcs on Steven Spielberg’s AMAZING STORIES on Apple and NBC’s THE VILLAGE. Currently, Hailey is the star of Broadway’s critically acclaimed musical Hadestown.

Kilgore is making power plays from screen to studio with the release of her highly anticipated new single, “Dangerous Game.” The track, dropping April, 17th, signals a fierce new chapter in Kilgore’s artistic evolution, one where her voice takes center stage.

“Dangerous Game” is a smooth, emotionally charged reflection which blends Kilgore’s sultry vocals with confessional lyrics, showcasing her eclectic musical influences and respect for the craft. The first installment in Kilgore’s larger project, a reflection on the Seven Stages of Grief, Kilgore had this to say:

“I wrote the song by myself in the last 45 minutes of a 10 hour writing camp. I want people to take away that the complicated feelings are completely normal. That’s part of falling out of love. When you have finally come to the realization that a relationship as you have known it is changing, that’s when you start to feel like you can’t control your emotions the way you want to, love becomes a  Dangerous Game. You are desperately holding on to getting a glimpse of what was. To go back to joy and love. Some level of stability. But what you had is gone.”

The single will be available on all major streaming platforms, with an accompanying music video premiering exclusively April 17th. Fans can expect more music from Kilgore in the coming months as she works on her debut EP.
