Mary J. Blige reveals exciting first Vegas residency plans

Jan. 12, 2026 / Entertainment / Author: Praise Swint

Mary J. Blige is ready to celebrate her legendary career in a brand new way. The Grammy-winning artist announced her first-ever Las Vegas residency, bringing decades of hits and heartfelt storytelling to the stage in a theatrical production unlike anything she’s done before.

My Life, My Story The Las Vegas Residency will run from May 1 through July 18 at Dolby Live at Park MGM, giving fans across the country and around the world a chance to experience the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul in an intimate setting designed specifically to honor her incredible journey.

A dream finally coming true

The announcement marks a major milestone for Blige, who expressed genuine excitement about finally bringing this vision to life. Creating a show of this magnitude has been something she’s always wanted to pursue, and the residency format provides the perfect opportunity to bring fans together from different cities, states and countries for a shared experience.

The artist promised surprises for longtime supporters who have followed her career from the beginning, making it clear that this residency will be more than just a greatest hits showcase. It’s a comprehensive look at her life and the music that defined generations.

Theatrical storytelling meets music

Blige joins an elite group of performers including Nat King Cole, Janet Jackson, Usher and Mariah Carey who have called Las Vegas home for extended runs. But her approach to the residency will set it apart from traditional concert experiences through its theatrical elements.

The show will incorporate actors and actresses who will help narrate the story behind the music. While the production will still deliver the fun, energetic performances fans expect, it will also weave together a narrative that gives deeper context to the songs that have meant so much to so many people over the years.

This format allows Blige to perform songs she hasn’t previously brought to the stage for her fans, giving the residency a fresh feel even for those who have seen her perform countless times. The music will tell the story while the theatrical elements bring additional layers of meaning and emotion to each performance.

Building on recent creative momentum

The residency announcement comes on the heels of another major career development. Blige recently signed an extended deal with Lifetime to collaborate on three new original movies based on her music catalog. The films are slated to feature notable actors including Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer and Russell Hornsby, demonstrating her expanding influence beyond music and into film production.

This combination of projects shows an artist at the height of her creative powers, using multiple mediums to tell stories that resonate with audiences who have grown up with her music as the soundtrack to their lives.

How to secure tickets

Fans eager to see the residency won’t have to wait long to purchase tickets, though several presale opportunities will give certain groups early access. Citi and AAdvantage cardholders can access presale tickets starting January 13 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time or 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

An artist presale will begin on January 14, giving dedicated fans another chance to secure seats before the general public. Members of MGM Rewards, the resort’s loyalty rewards program, along with Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers, will receive presale access on January 15.

General ticket sales open to everyone on January 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time or 10 a.m. Pacific Time through Ticketmaster, allowing the broader public to grab seats for what promises to be one of the hottest residencies of the year.

A celebration decades in the making

For Blige, this residency represents more than just another series of performances. It’s an opportunity to reflect on a career that has influenced countless artists and touched millions of lives through raw, honest storytelling paired with unforgettable melodies.

The theatrical approach ensures that audiences will experience something deeper than a typical concert, with the narrative structure providing context and connection that makes each song land with even greater emotional impact.
