Landman season 3 happening with big cast shakeups ahead

Jan. 18, 2026 / Film+ Premiere / Author: Praise Swint

The West Texas oil fields will continue pumping drama for at least another season as Paramount Plus has officially greenlit Landman for a third installment. The renewal arrives as welcome news for fans who witnessed the Norris family navigate seismic shifts during the recently concluded second season finale.

Paramount Plus made the announcement in December 2025, just weeks after season 2 debuted on the streaming platform. The swift renewal decision reflects strong viewership numbers and audience enthusiasm for Taylor Sheridan’s latest creation, which has struck oil with subscribers since launching in 2024.

Anticipated premiere timeline

While the streaming service has not confirmed an official release date, examining past patterns provides insight into when viewers might expect new episodes. Both previous seasons premiered in mid-November during 2024 and 2025, establishing a consistent fall release window that suggests season 3 could follow similar timing.

Industry rumors indicate production teams are eyeing a spring start date for filming, which would align with the shooting schedule maintained for season 2. This timeline would allow sufficient post-production work to meet a potential November 2026 premiere, though official confirmation remains pending from Paramount Plus and the production team.

The coordinated timing between filming schedules and release dates has become increasingly important for streaming platforms seeking to establish viewing habits among subscribers. Maintaining consistency helps build audience anticipation and allows marketing teams to plan promotional campaigns with greater precision.

Core cast expected to return

Season 2 concluded with dramatic changes as the former M-Tex Oil crew established a new company, bringing most primary characters into this fresh business venture. The finale essentially reset the status quo while keeping familiar faces at the center of the narrative, suggesting strong continuity heading into the third season.

Billy Bob Thornton appears poised to continue his role as Tommy Norris, the central figure navigating the dangerous world of oil extraction and family obligations. The acclaimed actor previously indicated his commitment to the series, mentioning he signed on for four to five years and intends to continue as long as his health permits or until the story reaches its natural conclusion.

Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Sam Elliott, Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan and Colm Feore all seem likely to reprise their roles given how season 2 positioned their characters within the new company structure. Their interconnected storylines and established relationships provide foundation for continued narrative development.

Michelle Randolph’s character Ainsley faces a transition to college life at TCU during season 3, though the proximity of her school and groundwork laid during season 2 suggests she will maintain presence in the show. Her storylines involving cheerleading and adjusting to dormitory life with a new roommate received significant attention during the finale, indicating ongoing importance to overall narrative arcs.

Supporting players remain viable

Andy Garcia and Demi Moore both have clear pathways to return based on how season 2 concluded their character arcs. Garcia’s portrayal of ruthless gangster Gallino saw him double down on investments in the new oil venture, creating natural opportunities for continued involvement in business dealings and potential conflicts.

Moore’s character Cami could emerge as a competitive threat to the burgeoning company, setting up potential rivalry storylines that would add complexity to the business landscape. Her established connections within the industry and personal history with key characters provide multiple avenues for reintegration into the narrative.

Paramount Plus has not issued official casting announcements for season 3, leaving some uncertainty about which actors will definitely return. However, the business structure established during the season 2 finale creates logical reasons for most characters to remain involved in some capacity.

Catching up before season 3

Viewers looking to refresh their memory or discover the series for the first time can stream both completed seasons on Paramount Plus. The platform offers Essential and Premium subscription tiers, with pricing at $8.99 and $13.99 monthly respectively, providing access to the entire Landman catalog along with other original programming.
