On Saturday, January 17, Disney Jr. transformed the River Oaks Theater in Houston into a colorful celebration for the launch of the animated series Hey A.J.!, now streaming on Disney+. The family-friendly event drew local celebrities, including rapper Tobe Nwigwe with his family and Graceyn “Gracie” Hollingsworth of “Gracie’s Corner,” along with families from community organizations such as CoolxDad, Mocha Moms, Jack and Jill of America, and the Boys & Girls Club.
The celebration kicked off with a lively reception featuring music from the series, photo opportunities, themed snacks, giveaways, and interactive kid activities. Attendees were immersed in the whimsical world of Hey A.J.! while enjoying a vibrant, family-oriented atmosphere.
Martellus Bennett leads the celebration
Guests welcomed Martellus Bennett, the author and former Super Bowl champion whose children’s books about his family inspired the series. As executive producer, Bennett introduced the show and joined the stage with his wife Siggi, daughter Jett, and Amari McCoy, the voice of A.J. Together, they shared insights about the creation of the series and the inspiration behind its heartwarming stories.
A never-before-seen episode of Hey A.J.! was premiered, giving the audience a first glimpse into the imaginative adventures of the series’ young heroine.
