The National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP), the nation’s leading organization advancing access and opportunity in financial services, will bring its 37th Annual Financial Services Conference (FSC 2026) to Detroit from June 8–10, 2026. This marks the conference’s return to the Motor City for the first time in 20 years.
And today’s Detroit is not the Detroit of 2006.
Back then, under the leadership of Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit was a very different city. It was navigating economic uncertainty, population loss, and the early stages of a financial crisis that would later lead to the historic Detroit bankruptcy. The narrative around Detroit was one of struggle.
Today, that narrative has shifted. Detroit has reemerged as a city defined by resilience, growth, and cultural influence. We are now witnessing a new era under the leadership of Mary Sheffield, the city’s first female mayor. From a revitalized downtown to a growing business ecosystem, Detroit is thriving and commanding national attention. In March 2026, Detroit was even named the “most underrated city everyone should visit once” by Travel & Leisure.
FSC 2026 Detroit
This June, the Annual Financial Services Conference, NASP’s flagship conference, will bring together more than 500 professionals from over 200 companies nationwide. Attendees include asset allocators, pension funds, foundations, investment managers, consultants, and government leaders. It is where relationships are built and business gets done.
Under the theme Power. Performance. Excellence. in the Motor City, FSC 2026 will spotlight Detroit’s continued economic resurgence while creating meaningful opportunities for local engagement. The conference is expected to generate significant economic impact through hotel stays, dining, transportation, and partnerships with local vendors. More importantly, it will connect Detroit-based financial professionals and institutions to national capital networks and institutional investors, expanding access in real time.
Sessions and Panel Discussions
Dynamic sessions and panel discussions will explore trustee education, institutional and alternative investing, access to public and private investor channels, emerging markets including investment opportunities in Africa, public finance, and professional development. Dedicated programming for college students, as well as early- and mid-career professionals, will provide mentorship and career-building pathways, further strengthening Detroit’s financial services talent pipeline.
History of NASP
Founded in 1985 by Maynard H. Jackson Jr. and Joyce M. Johnson, NASP has grown into a national network of chapters and professionals committed to expanding access across the financial services industry.
That impact is deeply felt in Detroit. NASP-Detroit is widely recognized as the organization’s most philanthropic chapter, with more than 20 years of scholarship, mentorship, and community investment. Its legacy reflects the same resilience that defines the city, creating real pathways for the next generation of financial leaders.
20 Years of Impact
Twenty years ago, Detroit was fighting to redefine itself. Today, it is setting the tone.
By returning to Detroit, NASP is not simply revisiting a host city. It is aligning with a narrative of growth, grit, and undeniable progress. FSC 2026 represents more than a conference. It is a full-circle moment, where a city once counted out now stands firmly in its power, ready to lead the next chapter of access, excellence, and opportunity.
