
HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series has given fans their first glimpse into the magical world of Hogwarts. A photo released on the show’s official Instagram shows Harry walking toward the Quidditch pitch, wearing a red-and-gold Gryffindor cloak embroidered with his last name and player number. Students carrying Gryffindor and Hufflepuff flags fill the scene, giving a sense of the school’s vibrant energy.
Young cast brings Hogwarts to life
Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter, joined by Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Other cast members include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The ensemble is currently filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., bringing new life to J.K. Rowling’s beloved universe.
Behind the magic
The show’s Hogwarts design was crafted by production designer Mara LePere-Schloop, whose previous credits include Interview With the Vampire and Pachinko. Her work captures both the grandeur and the detail of the wizarding school, creating a visual style that feels authentic and immersive.
Creative team guides the series
The adaptation is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod. Executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. The series follows young Harry as he discovers he is a wizard, leaves his Muggle family behind, and attends Hogwarts. Along the way, he befriends Ron and Hermione and faces the dark forces of Lord Voldemort.
