Social Security payments follow a normal schedule this June
The Social Security Administration is sending out June 2026 payments on its standard Wednesday schedule, with the first round going out on June 10. Most of the nearly 71 million Americans who receive Social Security benefits will get their payments across three Wednesdays this month, each tied to the recipient’s birth date.
June follows a straightforward pattern with no holiday disruptions or irregular dates to account for. Recipients who started collecting benefits before May 1997 receive their payment earlier, on Wednesday, June 3.
The check that arrives in June covers May benefits, while June benefits arrive in July. That one-month offset is built into how the SSA structures its payment calendar throughout the year.
When your Social Security payment arrives in June
The June payment schedule breaks down by birth date into three groups. Those born between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their payment on Wednesday, June 10. Recipients born between the 11th and 20th get paid on Wednesday, June 17. Those born between the 21st and 31st receive their payment on Wednesday, June 24.
Most recipients receive payment electronically. The SSA reports that 99% of beneficiaries are paid through direct deposit or similar methods, which means the vast majority of payments arrive on the scheduled date without delay. Recipients who do not receive payment on the expected date are advised to wait three additional mailing days before following up with the agency.
A 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment took effect in January 2026, adding an average of at least $56 per month to recipients’ payments compared to the prior year.

SSI recipients get paid first this month
Supplemental Security Income recipients follow a separate schedule. SSI payments go out on the first business day of each month, so June’s payment lands on Monday, June 1.
SSI serves Americans with limited income or resources who are 65 or older, blind, or living with a qualifying disability. Children with a qualifying disability also qualify under the program. Adults who qualify generally do not earn monthly wages above $2,073.
The remaining SSI payment dates for 2026 are Wednesday, July 1, Friday, July 31, Tuesday, September 1, Thursday, October 1, Friday, October 30, and Tuesday, December 1. July is notable because recipients will receive two payments that month. That happens when the first business day of the following month falls on a weekend or holiday, which pushes the next month’s payment forward into July.
When you can start collecting Social Security
Recipients can begin collecting reduced Social Security benefits as early as age 62. Waiting until full retirement age produces a larger monthly payment. That age has been gradually increasing, rising by two months for each successive birth year.
Those born in 1958 reach full retirement age at 66 years and 8 months. Those born in 1959 reach it at 66 years and 10 months. Anyone born in 1960 or later has a full retirement age of 67.
The SSA publishes its full payment calendar for both 2026 and 2027 on its website, giving recipients a tool to plan ahead across the entire year. Recipients can also apply for SSI online, in person at a local Social Security office, or by phone.
