Chaos Cubed lands June 16, the Dappled Forest is next, and A Minecraft Movie Squared is real
Mojang Studios returned to a physical stage for the first time since 2016. Today, the developer broadcast Minecraft Live from the Twitch Rivals Arena at TwitchCon Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The show covered a game update, a new biome, a Lego reveal, a dungeon crawler sequel and a Minecraft movie follow-up, all in one sitting.
Chaos Cubed arrives June 16
The most urgent news from the broadcast is a firm release date. Chaos Cubed, the next Minecraft game drop, launches on Tuesday, June 16. The update adds the underground Sulfur Caves biome along with a new mob called the Sulfur Cube. This mob absorbs any block a player feeds it and shifts its behavior based on what it takes in. Wool makes it bounce. Ice sends it sliding. Two new block sets also arrive with the update: sulfur blocks and cinnabar blocks, both in polished, brick and chiseled variants.
The Dappled Forest is next on the map
Beyond Chaos Cubed, Mojang is already building its third game drop of 2026. At the center of that update is a new biome called the Dappled Forest. The region has an autumnal feel, with poplar trees, red shrubs and a warm color palette that works well for building. A new poplar wood block set comes along with it, as do wool slabs and stairs. Players may also find scattered abandoned camps throughout the landscape. Testing is set to begin later this summer, though the full release is still a while off.
Minecraft Dungeons 2 shows off the Twisted Warden
Minecraft Dungeons II is confirmed for a fall 2026 launch. The action-RPG sequel, developed by Mojang and Double Eleven, will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Xbox Game Pass. During the broadcast, Mojang introduced one of its new enemies, the Twisted Warden. It moves slowly but hits hard and waits for players in the Deep Dark.
Alongside the reveal, the Lego Group announced The Twisted Warden Battle, set number 21591. The 438-piece set includes four hero figures and a buildable Twisted Warden boss. It retails for $59.99 and goes on sale August 1.
Free Lego chicken mounts hit the Marketplace
In addition to the Dungeons news, Mojang and the Lego Group released a free add-on called Lego Minecraft Chicken Mounts, built by Noxcrew. The add-on offers 15 variants of rideable, fully customizable chickens. Some can fly. Others walk on lava. Players can also compete with friends in chicken jousting.
A Minecraft Movie Squared is officially happening
The sequel to A Minecraft Movie now has a name. A Minecraft Movie Squared was confirmed during the show. Matt Berry returns in an undisclosed role, and Kirsten Dunst joins the cast as Alex. Jack Black and Jason Momoa are back as well. A build challenge tied to the film is currently open, giving fans a chance to see their work appear in the movie or its credits.
Speedrunning worlds and free capes
Two speedrunning worlds, built by creators Tubbo and MCSR Ranked, are now live in the Marketplace. The first is a beginner-friendly practice zone with tutorials and time trials. The second is a full competitive arena for players chasing personal bests. Viewers who watched the broadcast through an official Minecraft channel were also able to claim a free Builder Cape.
TwitchCon Rotterdam runs through May 31.
