Trader Joe’s striped mini totes are officially coming this summer, and the first look is here. The grocery chain has confirmed that its beloved mini totes are returning in a fresh pastel striped design, giving fans yet another reason to line up outside their local store. The new Trader Joe’s striped mini totes will hit shelves June 17 and retail for just $2.99.
A fresh new look for a fan favorite
The new bags arrive in muted shades of green, pink, blue, and brown all in a classic striped pattern. Each tote measures 13 inches long, 11 inches tall, and 6 inches wide. That makes them ideal for quick grocery runs or picking up a few forgotten items.
Supplies will, however, be limited. Trader Joe’s has advised shoppers to grab one while they can, as past drops have been known to sell out in under an hour at some locations.
Long lines, high demand, and sky-high resale prices
The mini tote phenomenon is nothing new for Trader Joe’s. Since the original blue, green, red, and yellow versions went viral in February 2024, each new iteration has triggered long lines stretching down the block. Indeed, demand has been so intense that resellers have listed the $2.99 bags for as much as $1,000 online.
Over the years, Trader Joe’s has released several variations to meet that enthusiasm. These include 1. Halloween-themed versions, 2. pastel mini totes, 3. mini cooler bags, and 4. micro bags which were less than half the size of the original. Each sold out almost immediately upon release. The cooler bag went for $3.99, while all other versions held firm at $2.99.
Trader Joe’s is fighting back against fakes
Along with the excitement, the mini tote craze has attracted a less welcome side effect: counterfeit bags. Trader Joe’s says it is now taking legal action to protect customers from being misled by knockoff versions sold online.
The brand has filed a lawsuit against sellers of fake mini totes and emphasized that authentic Trader Joe’s products are only available inside its stores.
What came just before the striped drop
The new striped pastel totes follow a recent batch of Mini Insulated Tote Bags that Trader Joe’s released last month in six designs. That drop featured red and pink stripes, blue and green stripes, and a design showing the silhouette of a Trader Joe’s store set among palm trees in green, orange, blue, and purple. Like all previous releases, those bags sold out quickly.
Now, with the striped mini totes set to arrive June 17, shoppers are already gearing up for another rush. Given the track record, arriving early or even the night before may be the surest way to snag one before they’re gone.
