The 25th anniversary edition of the Tribeca Festival closed on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with one of the most remarkable evenings in the festival’s history. The Tribeca Festival 2026 closing night recap covers a full day of film premieres, storytelling panels and live performances. These events took place across multiple New York City venues. From Bruce Springsteen receiving a lifetime honor to Alicia Keys closing the night with Empire State of Mind, the final day delivered moments that will define this anniversary edition for years to come.

Springsteen honored by Bono alongside De Niro and Patti Smith

The evening’s most significant ceremony took place at the OKX Theater at BMCC. Bruce Springsteen received the Tribeca Festival’s annual Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award. Bono presented the honor. Robert De Niro, Patti Smith and Tribeca co-founder Jane Rosenthal were also on hand for the ceremony. Together, those 4 cultural figures in one room gave the moment a genuinely historic weight.

After the award presentation, Springsteen, Bono and Patti Smith took the stage together. They delivered a special live performance that made BMCC the most coveted ticket of the evening. Moreover, the pairing of those 3 artists made the ceremony feel like far more than a standard festival tribute.

Alicia Keys world premiere followed by an epic live set

The same venue later welcomed Alicia Keys for the closing night world premiere of Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen. The documentary traces her path from Hell’s Kitchen in 1990s New York through Broadway and into global superstardom. The premiere drew a strong crowd and set the tone for everything that followed.

After the screening, Keys moved to the official Closing Night After Party at Capitale in lower Manhattan. There, she delivered a full hour-long set. Nas joined her on stage as a surprise guest. Furthermore, the night ended with a performance of Empire State of Mind that felt perfectly timed. The Knicks had just won the NBA championship hours earlier. As a result, the song landed with a resonance that no amount of planning could have manufactured.

Travis Barker, Este Haim and a packed Spring Studios

Spring Studios served as the festival’s main hub throughout the day. It hosted a dense schedule of events on closing night. Travis Barker attended the premiere of Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, joined by his son Landon Barker and Darryl McDaniels. In addition, Este Haim sat down for a Tribeca Talks conversation with filmmaker Will Gluck, offering an intimate look at her creative perspective.

The X-Men ’97 animated series also made a notable appearance at Spring Studios. A large portion of the show’s cast and creative team attended a Tribeca TV event. Furthermore, the Storytelling Summit hosted panels on worldbuilding through design, micro content strategy, talent access and Dan Houser’s Absurd Ventures. The Fierce Fashion shorts program screened films about Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan and the relationship between agriculture and fashion.

SVA Theatre draws strong crowds for the festival’s final screenings

The SVA Theatre hosted several significant events on closing night. Kelsey Grammer attended the premiere of Young Washington, a film about the early life of the first US president. The Vulture Festival programming brought Jason Bateman in for a Good One podcast taping. Additionally, Elisabeth Moss and Chase Infiniti discussed The Testaments and The Handmaid’s Tale in a separate Vulture event.

Michelle Buteau and Amber Ruffin attended in support of Survival of the Thickest. They were joined by a strong ensemble including Bevy Smith, Peppermint and Rotimi Paul. Meanwhile, the world premiere of Guggi — a documentary about the acclaimed Irish visual artist — drew Bono back to the festival for a second appearance of the evening, alongside the artist himself and Ali Hewson.

A 25th anniversary that lived up to its promise

The closing night capped a festival that spanned multiple venues across New York City. The 25th anniversary edition placed New York storytelling at its center throughout every event. From Springsteen’s social justice honor to Alicia Keys performing Empire State of Mind on the night of the Knicks championship, Tribeca 2026 delivered exactly the kind of cultural energy that keeps the festival essential year after year.
