Rihanna is giving her children a glimpse into the neighborhood where she grew up. The singer recently returned to Barbados with her three children and visited the road that now carries her name.
The family visit gave Rihanna a full-circle moment. She shared photos of the trip on X on Tuesday, Aug. 11, alongside an emotional message about her journey from childhood to motherhood.
Rihanna Visits Her Childhood Neighborhood With Her Kids
Rihanna brought her children with A$AP Rocky to Rihanna Drive, a road in the St. Michael parish of Barbados.
The singer shares three children with Rocky: RZA, 4, Riot Rose, 3, and 11-month-old Rocki Irish.
Rihanna reflected on the experience in her post. She explained that she sometimes still feels like the young girl who grew up in Westbury. However, she now gets to bring her own children back to the same place.
The moment was especially meaningful because Rihanna Drive once had a different name.
Rihanna Drive Was Once Westbury New Road
Rihanna grew up on the road formerly known as Westbury New Road. Her childhood home stood in the area just outside Bridgetown.
In November 2017, the Barbadian government officially renamed the road Rihanna Drive. Then-Prime Minister Freundel Stuart oversaw the renaming.
The change honored Rihanna’s international success and her connection to Barbados.
Now, years later, Rihanna has returned to the street with the next generation of her family.
Rihanna Returns to Barbados for Crop Over
The family visit came shortly after Rihanna attended Barbados’ Crop Over festival with A$AP Rocky.
Rihanna appeared at Grand Kadooment Day on Aug. 3. The event marks the colorful finale of the month-long celebration.
For the occasion, she wore a turquoise costume decorated with gemstones, peacock feathers and crystals. She also completed the look with an embellished headpiece designed by Barbadian designer Lauren Austin.
Rihanna last attended the annual celebration in 2024.
Rihanna Is Working on New Music
Meanwhile, Rihanna’s Barbados trip comes as fans continue to wait for her next album.
A$AP Rocky recently said Rihanna has been working on her comeback album. He shared the update during an appearance on The Jason Lee Show.
Rihanna released her last album, Anti, in 2016. The project became one of the biggest albums of her career and included hits such as “Work,” “Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain.”
Although Rihanna has focused on her family and business ventures in recent years, fans continue to look forward to her musical return.
For now, however, her visit to Rihanna Drive offered a special reminder of how far she has come.
The singer once grew up in Westbury. Now, she can return to that same neighborhood with her own children and share a piece of her childhood with them.
