Stephen Curry is adding another major contract to an already remarkable NBA career. The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year extension worth $116 million, keeping their longtime star in the Bay Area beyond his current deal.
The extension begins with the 2027-28 season and includes a player option for 2028-29. If Curry plays both seasons, the contract will take him into his 20th NBA season. It also puts his career salary on track to pass $600 million.
Stephen Curry’s earnings keep climbing
Curry has earned a little more than $470 million in NBA salary through the 2025-26 season, according to the figures cited in the supplied report. He is also due to earn about $62.6 million during the 2026-27 season under his current contract.
That would put his NBA salary at roughly $532.7 million before the new extension begins. Add the full $116 million extension, and his career on-court earnings would approach $649 million if he exercises the player option.
NBA.com previously reported that Curry’s 2026-27 salary is about $62.6 million. That figure came from the one-year extension he signed in 2024, which kept him under contract through the 2026-27 season.
The latest agreement therefore creates another major financial milestone for the Warriors guard.
A smaller deal than Curry could have received
The $116 million extension is also notable because Curry reportedly could have earned roughly $20 million more over the two seasons. The agreement instead gives Golden State additional room under the salary cap.
That flexibility could help the Warriors manage their roster around Curry as the franchise continues building around its veteran core. The team enters the 2026-27 season with Curry, Jimmy Butler III and Kristaps Porzingis among its leading names.
Curry’s decision also keeps one of the NBA’s longest-running player and franchise partnerships intact. Golden State drafted him No. 7 overall in 2009, and he has spent his entire career with the organization.
The next milestone is already within reach
If Curry completes the new contract, his NBA salary will move close to $650 million. That does not include his earnings from endorsements and business ventures.
His career away from the court has also produced substantial revenue through partnerships and business interests. The supplied report cites relationships with companies including Under Armour, Li-Ning and Google, along with his Unanimous Media production company and Underrated Golf Tour.
For now, the latest deal gives Curry another two seasons in Golden State and puts a remarkable earnings milestone within reach. At 38, he is preparing for his 18th NBA season with another significant contract already secured.
