Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly returned to solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix as officials investigate allegations about his life behind bars.
The move follows an NBC News report about claims from four men who spent time in the same prison unit as Combs. The men alleged that the music mogul received special services, accessed contraband and enjoyed other privileges while serving his 50-month federal sentence.
According to TMZ, officials moved Combs to the facility’s Special Housing Unit, commonly known as solitary confinement, during the investigation. Sources told the outlet that prison officials often use the unit while they investigate an inmate’s conduct.
Diddy faces investigation over alleged prison privileges
The allegations have drawn attention to the conditions Combs allegedly experienced at Fort Dix.
Four men who spent time in his unit told NBC News that Combs allegedly paid other inmates to cook meals, clean his living space, make his bed and handle his laundry. One inmate also claimed that he provided Chinese-style massages.
The NBC News report also alleged that Combs had access to a contraband cellphone. Sources said he used the device to browse Instagram and view sexually explicit photos sent by a former girlfriend.
Sources also alleged that Combs had access to alcohol and other prohibited items. NBC News reported that inmates described premium liquor entering the facility and said Combs sometimes drank Hennessy with other prisoners.
The report further alleged that Combs obtained a modified tablet that allowed him to watch movies and documentaries.
Combs previously spent time in solitary
This reportedly marks another period of solitary confinement for Combs at Fort Dix.
NBC News reported that officials placed him in solitary confinement during the summer after a fight with another inmate. Officials later moved him out of the unit. Sources then said he resumed the lifestyle they described in the September report.
The latest move comes as prison officials investigate the new allegations involving contraband and special treatment.
However, authorities have not publicly established the claims as facts against Combs.
A spokesperson for Combs disputed the portrayal of his prison life. The representative told USA TODAY that media coverage had treated ordinary prison experiences as unusual because of Combs’ celebrity status.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has also acknowledged broader contraband challenges across federal facilities. However, the agency has not publicly confirmed the specific allegations involving Combs.
Diddy continues to appeal his conviction
Combs is serving a 50-month federal sentence after his 2025 conviction on two counts of transporting people across state lines to engage in prostitution.
A jury acquitted him of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges prosecutors brought during the federal trial.
His legal team continues to appeal the conviction and sentence.
The latest reports come as Combs remains at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records cited by TMZ and other outlets, his projected release date is January 21, 2028.
For now, the investigation adds another development to Combs’ time behind bars.
It remains unclear whether the investigation will result in additional disciplinary action or affect his appeal.
