Chris Rock is opening up about his relationship with his younger brother, Tony Rock.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club, the comedian discussed Tony’s career, their relationship and the possibility of working together.
Chris also addressed comments about the brothers not doing more projects together. However, he made it clear that he feels proud of Tony and his career.
Chris Rock wants to work with Tony
Chris said he would love to see the brothers work together.
He shared his excitement about the possibility of Tony inviting him on tour. Chris said he would rather join Tony for an actual tour than simply appear at one of his shows.
He even imagined a 30-city comedy tour featuring both brothers. Chris also suggested having Jordan host the shows.
For Chris, the idea remains a personal dream.
The comedian also explained that distance can make collaboration more difficult. Tony lives in Los Angeles, while Chris lives in New York.
Still, Chris said he believes Tony is doing well.
Chris Rock praises his brother
Chris pushed back against the idea that Tony is struggling because they have not worked together more often.
He praised Tony as a successful comedian and said he is proud of him.
Chris also pointed out that Tony has built his own career. According to Chris, his brother earns a strong living, tours regularly and owns properties.
As a result, Chris does not view their separate careers as a problem.
He also compared their situation to other families in entertainment. Chris noted that famous performers can have relatives who work in the same industry without constantly working together.
Chris Rock discusses career opportunities
Chris also explained how relationships have shaped his career.
He said friendships and reliability can create major opportunities in entertainment. According to the comedian, a significant portion of his career came from people knowing him and recommending him for work.
Chris stressed that being reliable matters just as much as talent.
He recalled meeting comedians such as Wanda Sykes before they became major stars. He also discussed how being around talented people can lead to future opportunities.
The comedian said his mother taught him that “association brings assimilation.” For Chris, the lesson means people should spend time around others who are building successful careers.
Chris and Tony Rock could work together
For now, Chris and Tony Rock continue to maintain separate careers.
However, Chris made it clear that he would welcome the chance to work with his brother.
A joint tour or project could bring the two comedians together in a new way. Chris said the possibility remains a dream for him.
