For Chanchez, Jordan’s success represents more than one award. He sees it as part of a larger legacy.
Jordan has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable Black actors. His career includes major roles in Creed, Black Panther and Fruitvale Station.
His work in Sinners added another major achievement to that résumé.
Why the win matters to Black men
Chanchez also focused on what Jordan’s victory means for young Black men.
He explained that seeing someone like Jordan reach the highest levels of Hollywood can inspire the next generation. Representation can show young people that major opportunities are possible.
The Sinners win therefore carries weight beyond the individual award.
Chanchez made that point strongly during his interview. He argued that Jordan needed to win because the outcome could influence how young Black men view their own possibilities.

Jordan has spent years building a career both in front of and behind the camera.
Through his production company, Outlier Society, he has also taken on a larger role in developing stories and creating opportunities in Hollywood.
