OWN is bringing back its annual OWN for the Holidays programming event for its eighth year, with two new original movies celebrating love, family, friendship and community.
The holiday lineup features The Christmas Showdown 2 and Tapping Into Christmas. Both films will premiere on consecutive Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, beginning November 28.
The network’s first-ever holiday movie sequel, The Christmas Showdown 2, stars Amber Stevens West, Corbin Reid, Jenifer Lewis and Tommy Miles. The film follows two business partners as they fight to protect their company and save their beloved town.
Meanwhile, Tapping Into Christmas arrives December 5. The movie stars Corinne Foxx, D Smoke, Debbie Allen and Obba Babatundé. It also features international tap dance stars Chloé Arnold and Maud Arnold, founders of Syncopated Ladies.
OWN President Tina Perry said the annual programming event has become a holiday tradition for viewers. She added that this year’s films offer different stories centered on the warmth and spirit of the season.
‘The Christmas Showdown 2’ premieres November 28
The Christmas Showdown 2 reunites viewers with Chastity, played by Amber Stevens West, and April, played by Corbin Reid. The pair are preparing for their first year running H-Town Events independently.
However, their plans face a major challenge when Mayor Ellis, played by Tommy Miles, brings in Largesse Productions. The national event planning company hopes to create jobs and bring money back to the struggling town of Sugar Heights.
The company belongs to Tate, played by Jenifer Lewis. As the women face the powerful business owner and the mayor, they must find a way to protect their company.
They also deal with complications in their romantic relationships and occasional tension between themselves. Still, Chastity and April remain determined to save their business and the community they love.
The sequel premieres Saturday, November 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.
‘Tapping Into Christmas’ arrives December 5
The second film, Tapping Into Christmas, follows Jeni Walker, played by Corinne Foxx. After her theater career stalls in New York, Jeni returns to Memphis, Tennessee, for the holidays.
Once home, she learns that Heritage House, her beloved community theater, faces closure. Determined to save it, Jeni joins forces with her sisters, Cora and Mable, to organize a holiday tap dance showcase.
Chloé Arnold plays Cora, while Maud Arnold portrays Mable. The sisters help Jeni rediscover her passion for performing as they work to preserve the theater.
Along the way, Jeni receives support from Chance, a soulful musician played by D Smoke. Debbie Allen also stars as Ms. Dianne, Jeni’s mentor and the owner of Heritage House. In addition, Obba Babatundé plays Mr. Duncan, Jeni’s childhood tap instructor.
Chloé Arnold and Maud Arnold created and choreographed the film. The founders of Syncopated Ladies bring their experience in tap dance, performance and storytelling to the holiday production.
Tapping Into Christmas premieres Saturday, December 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.
