Simon Guobadia, the former husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, is facing two federal charges over allegations involving false tax returns. The businessman was indicted in Georgia as prosecutors questioned income figures reported in filings from 2021.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, federal prosecutors indicted Guobadia on Tuesday, Oct. 28. He faces two counts of allegedly assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal tax returns.
The allegations focus on financial declarations connected to Guobadia and his company, Simcol Petroleum Limited. Prosecutors claim the reported figures did not reflect the income and business sales he knew the company had generated.
Prosecutors question millions in reported sales
One of the allegations concerns paperwork filed in March 2021. Prosecutors claim Guobadia reported zero taxable income despite allegedly knowing he had earned more.
The filing also reportedly showed that Simcol Petroleum Limited generated more than $45 million in gross sales. Prosecutors argue that the reported figures did not accurately reflect his financial position.
A second filing from July 2021 has also attracted federal scrutiny. According to the indictment, Guobadia allegedly reported taxable income of $58,231 while his company recorded nearly $31 million in gross sales.
Prosecutors further allege that he knew his taxable income and the company’s gross sales exceeded the figures listed in the filings.
Arrest warrant adds another development
Court records also indicate that authorities issued an arrest warrant for Guobadia. However, available reports have not confirmed whether officials have taken him into custody.
The allegations remain subject to the federal court process. An indictment does not establish guilt, and Guobadia has not been reported as convicted of the charges.
Porsha Williams’ divorce adds to the public attention
The federal case comes after Guobadia’s highly publicized marriage and separation from Williams.
The former couple married in November 2022. However, Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, ending their marriage after approximately 15 months.
Their separation later became the subject of extensive public attention as both sides navigated the divorce proceedings.
In August 2026, Williams reportedly secured their multimillion-dollar Atlanta mansion and a seven-figure settlement. The development marked a major outcome in the couple’s financial separation.
Guobadia also left the United States following his deportation in 2025 amid immigration-related issues.
His latest legal challenge now brings renewed attention to his business and financial affairs. The federal case will determine how the allegations proceed through court.
