Twenty years after Victory made its mark on gospel music, Tye Tribbett is revisiting the project with a new generation of performers. The two-time Grammy winner will release V20 First Semester on Nov. 13, bringing fresh arrangements to songs from his celebrated 2006 live album.
The upcoming release is the first of two parts. Tribbett expects the second installment to arrive in 2027. Preorders for V20 First Semester are already available.
Why Tribbett calls it a semester
The title reflects the project’s connection between longtime fans and younger listeners. Those who experienced Victory in 2006 can return to familiar songs. Meanwhile, a younger audience gets the chance to discover the music through new performances.
Tribbett has described the project as a celebration for both groups. His sound has developed over the past two decades, and his personal testimony has grown. However, his faith remains central to the music.
The two-part format also gives the artist more room to revisit the original album’s legacy. At the same time, it introduces performers who bring their own voices to the project.
A new generation joins Tribbett
The first single, I Want It All Back, arrived Oct. 9. The track features ABLAZE, a contemporary gospel youth movement. It also brings new arrangements to the song that opened the original Victory album.
The decision to feature young performers on the lead single gives the anniversary project a clear generational connection. Rather than relying on a major guest appearance, Tribbett puts emerging gospel voices at the center of the release.
Other artists also contribute to the tracklist. ANTHNY appears on Hallelujah To Your Name, while HLE joins Worthy of My Praise. Thaddaeus Tribbett features on No Other Choice. Delandria Mills Milan contributes an interlude, and Wendi Henderson Wyatt joins the hymn Love Lifted Me.
Several songs return as reprises. The album closes with Everything Part III, suggesting that the musical journey will continue beyond this release.

The legacy behind Victory
Tribbett brings an established record of success to the anniversary. His career includes two Grammy Awards, five No. 1 albums, four No. 1 gospel radio singles and 10 Billboard Top 10 songs.
He first gained attention with Greater Anointing, also known as G.A. Later, he developed a style that blends gospel with R&B, hip-hop, rock, soul and African rhythms.
Motown Gospel, a division of Capitol CMG under Universal Music Group, will release V20 First Semester.
What comes next for the project?
Revisiting a celebrated live album brings its own expectations. The original Victory captured the energy of its time. Now, Tribbett is giving those songs a fresh setting while introducing new performers to longtime listeners.
However, the Nov. 13 release tells only part of the story. The second installment is expected in 2027, although its details remain undisclosed. For now, fans can look forward to hearing how Tribbett connects the music’s history with its next generation.
