Tribeca Festival Day 7: Al Pacino, SJP and FINNEAS Arrive

The 2026 Tribeca Festival continued its star-powered run on June 9, delivering another day packed with film premieres, celebrity appearances and live conversations across New York City. Hollywood legends, acclaimed musicians and emerging filmmakers gathered to celebrate storytelling in all its forms.

Among the biggest highlights of the day was the world premiere of “Killing Castro,” where Academy Award winner Al Pacino joined fellow cast members and guests at the OKX Theater at BMCC. Elsewhere, Sarah Jessica Parker attended the premiere of “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story,” while musician FINNEAS participated in a discussion about composing for film.

Al Pacino headlines ‘Killing Castro’ premiere

The world premiere of “Killing Castro” attracted one of the festival’s most notable crowds. Al Pacino appeared alongside Diego Boneta, DJ Khaled, Anthony Ramos, Kiki Layne, Ron Livingston, Logan Marshall-Green, Xolo Maridueña and several other cast members.

The event at the OKX Theater at BMCC showcased one of the festival’s most anticipated films and highlighted the continued appeal of star-driven cinema.

Celebrity attendees greeted fans and media before the screening, creating one of the busiest red-carpet moments of Day 7.

At the SVA Theatre, “Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story” celebrated its world premiere with television personality Robin Byrd and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker in attendance.

Matthew Broderick, Murray Hill and several members of the production team also joined the celebration, adding to the excitement surrounding the documentary.

The premiere honored Byrd’s long career in television while introducing audiences to her personal story through the new film.

FINNEAS explores music in filmmaking

Music also played a major role during the festival’s seventh day.

At Spring Studios, Grammy and Academy Award winner FINNEAS joined BAFTA-nominated composer Anthony Willis for a Tribeca Talks session focused on the relationship between music and film. Their discussion explored the creative process behind composing scores and crafting emotional moments through sound.

The conversation attracted filmmakers, musicians and festival attendees interested in the growing importance of music in modern storytelling.

Summer’ premiere

 

Spring Studios also welcomed music icon Kim Gordon for the New York premiere of “The Best Summer.”

The Sonic Youth co-founder attended alongside Coco Gordon-Moore, Lottie Malkmus and director Tamra Davis. The screening highlighted the festival’s commitment to showcasing projects that blend music and cinema.

The appearance added another major cultural figure to an already impressive lineup of celebrity guests.

Diverse programming fills Day 7 schedule

Beyond its headline events, Tribeca Festival 2026 featured an extensive range of premieres and conversations throughout the city.

Audiences attended screenings for “MexicanAmerican,” “Spin Wars,” “Death Booms,” “Iconoclast,” “Never Change!” and “The Man Will Burn.” The festival also hosted discussions including “Swooning From Book to Film with Kennedy Ryan and Tia Williams” and “Fashion Neurosis Live.”

Spring Studios presented multiple music video showcases featuring projects such as “Long Way to Go,” “Kill Me Fast,” “Beautiful,” “Animus Ignis” and “New York Is Dead,” demonstrating the festival’s broad creative reach.

Tribeca Festival continues its momentum

Day 7 reinforced the Tribeca Festival’s reputation as one of the industry’s premier events for film, music and creative conversations. From blockbuster premieres to intimate discussions, the festival offered audiences an opportunity to experience storytelling from multiple perspectives.

With major stars including Al Pacino, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Gordon and FINNEAS participating throughout the day, the 2026 edition continues to attract influential voices from across entertainment while showcasing new projects and emerging talent.

As the festival moves forward, attendees can expect even more premieres, conversations and special appearances that celebrate creativity across film, television and music.
