Dak Prescott has kept most of his personal life out of interviews since training camp began this summer. This week, a direct question finally got a direct answer. Nearly five months after calling off his engagement to Sarah Jane Ramos, Prescott addressed how he was actually doing, and his response went far beyond football.
The exchange came during a sit-down interview with NBC’s Newy Scruggs, recorded during training camp in Oxnard, California. Scruggs asked Prescott directly about the canceled wedding and how he was holding up personally. Prescott did not dodge the question. He described feeling blessed and credited his faith as a consistent source of stability, explaining that setbacks do not change how he wakes up each morning or how grateful he feels to be where he is.
How Prescott connects his faith to his daughters and his career
Prescott tied his outlook directly to his two daughters and his football career, saying he has too many blessings to dwell on his trials. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play quarterback for the Cowboys and to still inspire others despite a difficult personal year. He said adversity is inevitable, but responding to it consistently is what allows a person to move past it.
The wedding, originally planned for Lake Como, Italy, was called off roughly five weeks before the ceremony following a bachelor and bachelorette trip to the Bahamas. Since then, Prescott and Ramos have focused on co-parenting their two daughters, Margaret Jane and Aurora Rayne, reaching a temporary custody agreement in April.

How Prescott and Ramos are handling co-parenting right now
Prescott’s attorney addressed the custody arrangement directly, confirming both sides agreed to work through the details without court intervention for now. The two have also reunited on a handful of occasions since the split, including their youngest daughter’s first birthday in May.
Outside the personal storyline, Prescott’s on-field reputation remains part of the broader conversation heading into the season, including where he lands on Madden 27’s list of the league’s top-rated quarterbacks. Other teams around the league have their own offseason storylines developing as camp continues, including Denver’s trade for Jaylen Waddle, which is already looking like a smart move for a team built to contend.

Prescott enters the season having missed the playoffs in each of the last two years, and he has told teammates he intends to change that.
