Disney and BBC Studios have released the first teaser trailer and poster for The Bluey Movie. This marks the first time the beloved animated series will hit the big screen. The reveal came during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23, The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The trailer played to a packed house at the Honda Center.
A fresh look for a familiar family
The film follows Bluey, a lovable blue heeler dog, and her family. It takes place during an action packed day when a big surprise changes everything for them. The biggest shift from the series is a new 3D animation style. The trailer shows this off through a scene of Bluey and her little sister, Bingo, playing a game of Keepy Uppy with a balloon. Fittingly, D23 attendees got their own surprise Keepy Uppy moment. They played with the film’s signature red balloons during the reveal.
Series creator Joe Brumm returns to write and direct the movie. Richard Jeffery co-directs after previously working on the first three seasons of the show. Amber Naismith, known for her work on The Lego Movie, produces the film. Jeff Bush composes the score for the Ludo Studio production. Brumm, Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson serve as executive producers for Ludo Studio. Justine Flynn serves as executive producer for BBC Studios. David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, oversees the project for Disney. BBC Studios finances and licenses the film. Walt Disney Studios handles theatrical distribution.
Familiar voices return
Melanie Zanetti reprises her role as Bluey’s mum, Chilli. David McCormack returns as her dad, Bandit. Both bring back the voices fans already know from the series.

Bluey’s massive following
Bluey premiered in 2018. It has grown into a global phenomenon since then. The show was the most streamed program in the United States for the second year in a row in 2025. It racked up 45.2 billion minutes streamed. It also ranked as the number one kids’ show on both CBeebies and Disney Plus in the United Kingdom. Along the way, it earned both an International Emmy Kids Award and a BAFTA Children’s and Young People’s Award.
Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, co chairs of Disney Entertainment, said the series has brought families together through its stories about play, imagination and connection. They expressed excitement about expanding the partnership with BBC Studios to bring that world to theaters.
When and where to watch
The Bluey Movie arrives in theaters Aug. 6, 2027. It will make its way to Disney Plus a few months later, in time for the holidays.
