A new Avengers: Doomsday special look gives Marvel fans a closer look at Doctor Doom.
The footage focuses on Victor Von Doom and the painful events that changed him. It also hints at his plans for those he believes wronged him.
Marvel Entertainment released the special look on August 15. Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
Avengers: Doomsday reveals Victor’s painful past
Victor was once known as a brilliant and caring man.
The new footage suggests that everything changed after he lost the people he loved.
One character describes Victor as someone who once stood out for his intelligence. They also remember him as kind and compassionate.
Then, something went terribly wrong.
The footage suggests that grief and loss pushed Victor into darkness. Someone close to him admits they knew he was struggling but failed to understand how badly he had broken.
That pain now appears to fuel Doctor Doom.
Doctor Doom delivers a chilling warning
The special look then shifts to a tense confrontation.
Someone asks Victor if he caused the events unfolding around them.
Doom responds with a disturbing warning.
He claims that those around him have lived stolen lives. He then demands that they give those lives back.
The scene paints Doom as a villain with a personal mission. He does not appear interested in forgiveness.
Instead, he wants control.
The footage ends with one of the most ominous moments in the trailer. Doom declares that he commands hell.
He then identifies himself simply as Doom.
Robert Downey Jr. returns as Doctor Doom
Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday.
However, he will not play Tony Stark.
Downey Jr. will portray Victor Von Doom, marking a major change from his previous MCU role.
Joe and Anthony Russo will direct the film. The movie will also bring together several Marvel characters and teams.
The story will center on the growing threat posed by Doctor Doom.
When does Avengers: Doomsday come out?
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
The film will also set the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars. That movie is scheduled to follow in 2027.
For now, Marvel is keeping much of the story under wraps. However, the new footage offers an important clue about Doom.
His story may not begin with power.
It may begin with loss.
And if the special look is any indication, Victor Von Doom plans to make everyone pay for what he believes was taken from him.
