Coco Gauff has reached another major milestone. The American tennis star fought back from a set down against Mirra Andreeva to earn her 90th Grand Slam match win at the 2026 US Open.
Gauff defeated Andreeva 2-6, 7-6(9-7), 6-2 on September 9 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The victory also sent her into the US Open semifinals for the second time in her career.

Gauff faced serious trouble early in the quarterfinal match.
Andreeva controlled the opening set and took it 6-2 as Gauff struggled to find her rhythm. However, the 22-year-old American refused to let the match slip away.
The second set became a major turning point. Gauff battled through a tense tiebreak and saved two match points before winning it 7-6(9-7). One of those points came after a grueling 39-shot rally that ended with Gauff producing a crucial backhand winner.
As a result, Gauff entered the deciding set with new momentum.
Gauff takes control in the final set
Gauff looked like a different player once the third set began. She capitalized on Andreeva’s frustration and broke serve twice before closing out the match 6-2.
After sealing the comeback, Gauff celebrated in front of the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd. She roared, pounded her chest and soaked in a victory that carried plenty of emotional weight.
The win extended Gauff’s impressive run in New York. She entered the tournament after winning the Cincinnati Open and has now reached the semifinals without dropping a match.
Coco Gauff reaches another US Open semifinal
This semifinal appearance gives Gauff another opportunity to add to her Grand Slam résumé.
The 2023 US Open champion will now face Elena Rybakina, who became the new world No. 1 after defeating Zheng Qinwen in the quarterfinals.
Gauff has already faced Rybakina this year, losing to her in the Toronto semifinal. Still, her latest comeback shows the confidence and resilience that have fueled her recent run.
More importantly, Gauff’s 90th major match win adds another milestone to a career that continues to develop at an extraordinary pace.
With another US Open semifinal ahead, the American star is now two victories away from another Grand Slam title.
