The series comes from creator John Fusco, who developed the story around the world of stock car racing. The drama will focus on family, competition and the pressure of maintaining a racing empire across generations.
Thunder Road follows a racing dynasty
“Thunder Road” centers on the fictional Whitlock family, a Southern stock car racing dynasty with roots that stretch back to old moonshine runs.
The family’s history forms a major part of the series. Their racing legacy also creates new challenges as they work to protect what they have built.
Dennis Quaid stars as Duane Whitlock, a legendary racer who fights to keep his blue-collar empire alive. However, ruthless competitors threaten the future of his family business.
The story will move between generations as the Whitlocks face the changing world of stock car racing. As a result, the series will combine family drama with the high-pressure world of motorsports.
