Fans eager to catch “Street Fighter” before anyone else now have a chance. The film’s distributor is giving moviegoers an early look through a special IMAX fan event ahead of the wide release.
An early IMAX fan event
On Thursday, October 15, IMAX theatres nationwide will host the “Street Fighter: Bonus Round Fan Event” at 7 p.m. local time. Guests who attend will receive an exclusive collector’s print while supplies last. Additionally, they’ll get a first look at seven minutes of bonus content from the film before it opens everywhere the next day, October 16.

“Street Fighter” is part of the Filmed For IMAX program, meaning it was captured using IMAX-certified digital cameras. As a result, the film includes 67 minutes of exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio footage, more than half of its total runtime. That format expands the picture to a 1.90:1 aspect ratio, giving IMAX audiences more of the frame than any other format offers.
Director Kitao Sakurai worked closely with IMAX throughout production. In fact, he conducted camera tests at the company’s Los Angeles headquarters to bring greater scale and immersion to key sequences.
What the movie is about
Set in 1993, the story follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they’re pulled back into competition. Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a fierce clash of skill and rivalry. However, a hidden conspiracy soon forces them to confront both each other and their own pasts.
The film stars Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Callina Liang, alongside Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jason Momoa. Sakurai directs, while Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Momoa produce.
“Street Fighter” runs 119 minutes and is rated PG-13. Tickets are on sale now, and fans can find showtimes at imax.com/movie/street-fighter.
