Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett are bringing one of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novels to the big screen with Verity, a seductive psychological thriller arriving in theaters October 2.
Based on Hoover’s New York Times bestselling novel, the film follows a struggling writer who enters a wealthy family’s secluded world and discovers secrets that blur the line between truth and fiction.
Michael Showalter directs the film from a screenplay by Nick Antosca.
Anne Hathaway steps into Verity’s twisted world
Hathaway stars as renowned author Verity Crawford, whose life takes a disturbing turn after an accident leaves her unable to finish her popular book series.
Her husband, Jeremy Crawford, played by Hartnett, brings struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh into the family’s remote estate.
Lowen, played by Johnson, accepts a job ghostwriting Verity’s remaining books.

Josh Hartnett adds another layer of mystery
Hartnett plays Jeremy, Verity’s husband and the man who hires Lowen to complete his wife’s unfinished work.
His relationship with both women becomes central to the story as Lowen tries to understand what really happened inside the Crawford household.
At the same time, attraction and suspicion begin to collide.
The film asks whether Lowen can trust what she discovers or whether someone is deliberately controlling the narrative.
