Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” Lights Up Hollywood During A Roaring World Premiere

The Dolby Theater in Hollywood was transformed into the Pride Lands as Disney’s highly anticipated Mufasa: The Lion King premiered in grand fashion on Monday, Dec. 9. This all-new feature film, directed by Academy Award® winner Barry Jenkins, explores the remarkable origins of Mufasa, one of Disney’s most iconic characters, and opens exclusively in theaters on December 20.

A Star-Studded Affair

The premiere was a dazzling spectacle, with cast members and filmmakers gathering alongside special guests to celebrate this cinematic milestone. Aaron Pierre, who voices the titular Mufasa, was joined by Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Taka), Tiffany Boone (Sarabi), Blue Ivy Carter (Kiara), John Kani (Rafiki), and Thuso Mbedu (Junia), among others. The red carpet shone even brighter with appearances by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Nala), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who penned original songs for the film.

Behind the scenes, the creative forces were just as impressive, with Jenkins helming the project and Jeff Nathanson penning the screenplay. The music, a vital heartbeat of the Lion King universe, was brought to life by composer Dave Metzger, with additional contributions from the legendary Lebo M.
