Another highlight of the night was the presentation of a $100,000 grant to MAED Beauty, a Black-owned brand whose work reflects the mission of the Fifteen Percent Pledge. The grant underscored the organization’s ongoing investment in founders who often face structural barriers in access to capital, visibility and retail opportunities. This milestone celebrated both the winner’s impact and the broader efforts to uplift underrepresented entrepreneurs at scale.
Inside the gala experience

The evening unfolded with a seated dinner, curated programming and tributes recognizing the Pledge’s continued national footprint. Leadership shared updates on progress made since the organization’s founding in 2020. Over the past several years, the Pledge has grown into a major force for retail inclusion and economic advancement, building programs that connect Black-owned brands to store shelves, investors, education and long-term opportunity.
The gala also featured reflections on the organization’s trajectory, including strengthened partnerships and increased funding dedicated to supporting founders. Attendees heard about the expansion of grantmaking, educational initiatives and mentorship opportunities designed to help businesses scale sustainably.
A weekend-long celebration of Black-owned businesses

The gala served as the anchor event for the two-day 15th Street Block Party Weekend, which turned the Paramount Studios backlot into a vibrant marketplace and cultural hub. More than 120 Black-owned vendors participated, showcasing beauty, fashion, home goods, food and wellness offerings. Attendees enjoyed live performances, founder conversations, book signings and interactive activations ranging from tarot and astrology sessions to makeup demonstrations.
Brands and creatives central to the Pledge’s community brought the weekend to life, offering both shopping and immersive experiences. Appearances from designers, innovators, authors and artists helped create an energetic environment centered on creativity, connection and celebration.

Since launching in 2020, the Fifteen Percent Pledge has transformed from a single call to action into a national platform championing economic equity. In 2025, the organization expanded its grant programs, grew its entrepreneur community and continued forging partnerships across major retailers and institutions. It also introduced new business education initiatives, including an Ivy League business intensive and an AI-focused learning program designed to prepare founders for the evolving digital landscape.
The organization’s measurable progress reflects its commitment to strengthening pathways for Black founders while advocating for long-term structural change within the retail industry. As the gala weekend demonstrated, community, creativity and consistent investment remain at the center of that mission.
