Mark Curry is speaking out about his experience with Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
The former Bad Boy artist shared a video on Instagram. He explained what he says went wrong with the Netflix documentary.
Curry discussed his payment for music featured in the project. He also addressed a production credit he says he was promised.
The comments came days after the documentary won an Emmy. The project was produced by 50 Cent, who has been closely involved in the documentary’s rollout.

Curry says his biggest issue involves “Come With Me,” the song connected to the 1998 movie Godzilla.
He appeared on the track and discussed it during the documentary. Curry says that portion of the documentary reached more than 50 million views.
However, he claims there was no sync license for the music.
A sync license covers the use of music in film and television. It can also provide payment to the appropriate rights holders.
Curry says he expected a license to be secured.
Instead, he says he was told one was unnecessary because he only spoke about the song.
Curry says he ultimately received $69.
He called the payment unacceptable. He also argued that obtaining the proper license could have created more financial support for people affected by the issues surrounding the documentary.

Curry also addressed his role behind the scenes.
He says he was promised a production credit. According to Curry, that promise affected how he approached the project.
He claims he helped bring talent to the documentary. He also says many people featured in the project appeared because of connections from his book.
Curry says the agreement included protection if the documentary was eventually sold.
He expected to remain part of the deal because of his production contributions.
That did not happen as he expected.
