The NBA playoff race continued to take shape on March 26 as several teams delivered timely performances with the postseason approaching. Three matchups stood out, each carrying implications for teams fighting to improve their position in a tightly contested Eastern Conference.

Hornets extend surge and halt knicks streak

The Charlotte Hornets strengthened their late-season push with a 114–103 victory over the New York Knicks in Charlotte. The win extended the Hornets’ strong run and brought an end to the Knicks’ seven-game winning streak.

Rookie Kon Knueppel delivered one of his most complete performances of the season, finishing with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. His all-around effort helped set the tone early and kept Charlotte in control throughout the game.

Support from key contributors also played a major role. LaMelo Ball added 22 points, while Brandon Miller contributed 21, giving the Hornets consistent scoring options.

Charlotte’s recent stretch has turned heads across the league, as the team continues to climb at a critical moment. With momentum building, the Hornets are positioning themselves as a serious contender for a playoff spot.

Pistons respond with dominant home win

The Detroit Pistons delivered a strong response performance, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 129–108. The victory marked Detroit’s fifth win in its last six games, highlighting a team finding rhythm late in the season.

Jalen Duren led the way with an impressive stat line of 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. His presence on both ends of the floor helped Detroit maintain control from start to finish.

The Pistons’ energy and execution proved difficult for New Orleans to counter. Zion Williamson paced the Pelicans with 21 points, but the team struggled to keep up with Detroit’s pace and scoring balance.

Detroit’s recent form suggests a team gaining confidence at the right time. As the playoff race intensifies, performances like this could prove important in determining final standings.

Magic break skid with late-game run

The Orlando Magic returned to the win column with a 121–117 victory over the Sacramento Kings. The result ended Orlando’s losing streak and kept the team within reach in the Eastern Conference race.

Paolo Banchero once again led the scoring effort, finishing with 30 points. His consistency has been a key factor for the Magic throughout the season.

The game remained close until the final moments, when Orlando pulled away with a decisive 12–0 run. That stretch shifted momentum and allowed the Magic to secure the win.

Sacramento stayed competitive behind DeMar DeRozan, who recorded 33 points and 11 assists, but the late surge from Orlando proved decisive.

The victory gives the Magic renewed momentum as they continue to fight for a postseason position.

Playoff race grows tighter

With the regular season nearing its conclusion, each game is carrying increased significance. The Hornets are emerging as one of the hottest teams in the league, the Pistons are building consistency with strong performances, and the Magic remain in contention after ending their skid.

The Eastern Conference standings continue to reflect a closely contested race, particularly around the final playoff spots. Multiple teams remain within reach of the eighth seed, making every result critical in the weeks ahead.

As momentum shifts from night to night, the league is seeing teams rise at the right moment. These performances not only impact standings but also shape expectations heading into the postseason.
