Josh Groban fans are in a genuinely enviable position this summer. The acclaimed vocalist is hitting the road not once but twice, and each tour promises an entirely different experience. One leans into spectacle and energy. The other reaches toward the symphonic and cinematic. Both spotlight his new album, Cinematic, which features his own interpretations of classic movie songs.
The Jennifer Hudson tour kicks off first
On Tuesday, Groban launches a joint tour alongside Jennifer Hudson. The two will share the stage in what Groban describes as a high-energy show, drawing from a 25-year catalog while weaving in new material. Fans can expect four or five songs from Cinematic each night. Additionally, Groban and Hudson will perform their duet from the album, a rendition of Unchained Melody, at every show on the run. Beyond the new material, the tour will also function as a retrospective, revisiting the songs that have defined Groban’s career across more than two decades.
The symphony tour takes a different direction
Then, on August 11, Groban launches Stage, Screen and Symphony, a solo tour during which he will perform alongside symphony orchestras. The set list for that run is still being developed, but Groban has outlined the shape of the evening clearly. It will draw from his Stages album and Cinematic, and may also include songs he has always wanted to perform live but has never had the right moment to explore. The overall feel will be more traditional and classical in tone, a distinct contrast to the energy of the Hudson tour. For fans who prefer a more intimate, orchestral experience, this is the run to catch.
Vegas in the fall for those who miss the summer
For anyone unable to make either summer run, Groban has also confirmed Las Vegas performances in the fall, giving fans one more opportunity to catch him live before the year is out.
