LaToya Malcolm, a former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist and actress, has died at age 35.
The Miss Universe Jamaica organization shared the news on Instagram on July 18. The group remembered Malcolm as a valued member of the pageant community and offered condolences to those closest to her.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition,” the organization wrote.
The statement also shared support for Malcolm’s loved ones, adding that she would remain in their memories.
Malcolm joined the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica competition and later achieved another milestone by winning the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title.
LaToya Malcolm’s career in entertainment and pageantry
Malcolm built a career as an actor, entertainer, and dance instructor in Jamaica.
According to the Miss Universe Jamaica organization, she spent more than a decade working in the entertainment industry. Through her performances and creative work, she became known as a dedicated figure in Jamaica’s arts community.
Meanwhile, Malcolm continued to pursue pageantry while balancing her personal challenges.
In 2024, she told the Jamaica Observer that she pushed forward after losing her father earlier that year. Despite the difficult experience, she continued training for the Miss Jamaica Bikini International competition.
Eventually, her determination helped her win the title.
