An Anthony Edwards child support order is now official after a Georgia judge ordered the Minnesota Timberwolves star to pay $3,222 per month for his one-year-old daughter.
The ruling comes despite Edwards’ massive NBA earnings. In 2023, he signed a five-year contract extension worth more than $200 million with the Timberwolves.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the case focused on legal jurisdiction and financial matters involving Edwards and the child’s mother, Ayesha Howard.
After reviewing the case, the judge applied Georgia child support guidelines and set the monthly payment at $3,222.
Court dispute focused on jurisdiction
The central dispute involved where the court should decide child support.
Howard first filed her claim in California. Edwards responded in Georgia.
The NBA star argued that Howard had few connections to California. He also claimed California was not the proper venue for determining support payments.
The Georgia court accepted Edwards’ argument. The judge then applied Georgia child support guidelines to the case.
After reviewing financial records, the court set the monthly payment at $3,222.
Edwards made substantial payments before ruling
Court records show Edwards provided financial support before the judge issued the final order.
According to the documents, he made an initial payment of $20,000. He also sent monthly payments of $5,000 starting in January 2025 and continued those payments until the trial.
The records show Edwards paid nearly $110,000 in child support before the final ruling.
The court also reviewed Howard’s financial situation. Court documents state that she reported no monthly income during the proceedings.
However, the documents also state that she did not attend the trial. The records further indicate that she did not submit evidence to support her claims.

The child support decision comes as Edwards strengthens his position among the NBA’s top young stars.
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has emerged as the face of the Timberwolves franchise.
He has helped lead Minnesota through several successful seasons. His performances have made him one of the league’s most recognizable young players.
His long-term contract underscores his value to the organization. It also places him among the highest-paid young players in the NBA.
While Edwards continues to excel on the court, the ruling highlights the personal responsibilities that often accompany life in the public eye.
The Georgia court’s decision now establishes the official child support arrangement between Edwards and Howard moving forward.
