J. Cole’s Sacramento concert will not go ahead after a member of his touring crew died while transporting equipment for the tour.
The show was scheduled for Aug. 27 at Golden 1 Center. The venue canceled the event after the crew member died in a big rig incident on Interstate 5 in Yolo County earlier that morning.
The truck had been carrying equipment from Cole’s previous performance at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. It was traveling south through Yolo County when it overturned near Zamora shortly after 6 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was the only person inside the vehicle. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the driver did not survive. Authorities later identified the driver as 66 year old Jarlath Parkinson of Jackson, South Carolina.
What investigators know so far
The California Highway Patrol said the truck moved onto the right shoulder before the driver tried to return to the freeway. The vehicle then lost control and overturned.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the incident. Early reporting has raised the possibility of driver distraction or fatigue. Authorities have not announced a final cause.
The incident involved a touring truck carrying equipment for Cole’s Sacramento performance. That connection led to the cancellation later that day.

What happens to J. Cole ticket holders
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds. Other ticket holders should seek a refund through the original place where they bought their tickets. Golden 1 Center confirmed those arrangements after announcing the cancellation.
There was no confirmed rescheduled date for the Sacramento performance at the time of publication.
Is J. Cole’s tour still scheduled
The Sacramento date was part of J. Cole’s The Fall-Off Tour, which supports his seventh studio album, The Fall Off. Golden 1 Center describes the run as his first solo headline tour in five years and his first full global tour in nearly a decade.
Cole’s next listed dates are two Oakland Arena performances on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30. Live Nation also lists Los Angeles and Inglewood shows beginning Sept. 1.
As of Aug. 28, those dates remained listed on Live Nation’s schedule. The Sacramento show remains the immediate change to the tour calendar.
For fans, the focus now shifts from one canceled night in Sacramento to what comes next for the wider tour.
