Netflix gave couples a special preview of Tyler Perry’s latest film ahead of its September premiere.
The streaming service hosted an exclusive Date Night event in Dallas on Sept. 4 to celebrate Why Did I Get Married Again? The evening brought together popular couples, relationship creators and members of the film’s cast.
The celebration started with an advance screening at Cinépolis Victory Park. Guests then headed to Carbone Dallas for a private dinner inspired by the movie’s themes of marriage, friendship, family and commitment.
Michael Jai White surprises guests
Michael Jai White, who stars in Why Did I Get Married Again?, attended the dinner with his wife, actress and producer Gillian White.
The couple surprised guests during the evening and joined conversations about marriage, family and long-term relationships. Michael also shared behind-the-scenes details from the production and discussed some of the lessons explored in the film.
The event brought together creators who have built large audiences around relationships and everyday life. Their communities reach millions of people across social platforms.
Among the guests were Keith and Ronni Lee, Niki and Henry Stewart, Jayla and Tony Henry, Da’ana and Joy Williamson, Janae Sims and Choyce Brown, Tracie and Cheryl, Laterras and Ashley Whitfield, and Sh’day and Mal Love.

Why Did I Get Married Again? arrives on Netflix on Sept. 9.
The story reunites the familiar couples as Marcus and Angela’s daughter prepares to get married. Their reunion forces them to look at their own relationships and the examples they have set for their children.
As the family comes together, they discover that time has changed some things while leaving other parts of their relationships familiar. Their children also begin to reflect traits they recognize from themselves.
Tyler Perry wrote and directed the film. He also serves as a producer alongside Angi Bones and Tony Strickland.
The cast includes Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker and Sharon Leal. Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya Deleon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith II, Derrick A. King and Sydney Winbush also appear.
The Dallas celebration offered an early look at the film while placing its central themes in a real-life setting. With couples and relationship creators in the room, the night focused on the same ideas the movie puts at the center of its story.
