A$AP Rocky is helping the next generation of creatives pursue their dreams.
The Harlem native has launched a new scholarship at LIU Brooklyn’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment. The program will give one incoming freshman a full-tuition scholarship for four years.
A$AP Rocky creates new scholarship
Rocky created the scholarship to help an aspiring student begin their college journey without the burden of tuition costs.
The rapper also wants to give young creatives more opportunities to build their own paths.
“I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” Rocky told Billboard.
The scholarship adds to a growing list of programs at the school. DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Guru and LaMelo Ball have also launched scholarship programs there.
Rocky supports future creatives
Rocky has built a career across music, fashion and other creative fields. Now, he is using that experience to support students who want to enter the entertainment industry.
The new scholarship will cover four years of tuition for one incoming freshman. As a result, the recipient can focus more on their education and creative goals.
The Roc Nation School offers programs connected to music, sports and entertainment. The scholarship also reflects the growing role artists play in helping young people enter those industries.
For Rocky, the initiative is about opening a door for someone who wants to create their own path.
