Offset could face a $100,000 default judgment in a lawsuit filed by Detroit’s MotorCity Casino Hotel.
A Michigan judge recently ordered the casino to begin default proceedings against the rapper. The move comes after Offset allegedly failed to answer the lawsuit.
Judge says Offset did not answer lawsuit
According to a September 11 scheduling order, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Qiana Denise Lillard found that Offset had received the lawsuit.
The judge also found that his deadline to respond had passed. However, no answer appeared in the case.
As a result, Lillard directed MotorCity to file and serve a default against Offset. The casino must then file a motion seeking a default judgment.
The court set October 23, 2026, as the deadline for that motion to be heard.
Still, the development does not mean Offset already owes MotorCity $100,000. The casino must take additional legal steps before the court can enter a default judgment.
MotorCity claims Offset owes $100,000
The lawsuit dates back to March 30, 2026. MotorCity sued Offset over an alleged unpaid $100,000 gambling credit line.
According to the complaint, Offset opened the credit line in March 2024. The casino says he used it while gambling during a visit.
MotorCity later attempted to collect the alleged debt. However, the casino claims it could not reach Offset about repayment.
The casino also claims its agreement with Offset allowed it to withdraw the balance from his bank account. When MotorCity tried to collect the money, the transaction allegedly failed because the account lacked enough funds.
Offset could face a default judgment
Under Michigan Court Rule 2.603, a court can enter a default when a defendant fails to respond or defend against a lawsuit.
Once a default is entered, the defendant generally cannot continue participating in the case unless the court sets the default aside.
MotorCity can then ask the court to enter a default judgment. If granted, that judgment could make the alleged debt legally enforceable.
For now, the case remains active. The next major step is MotorCity’s motion for default judgment.
