Art Basel Paris and Live Nation are bringing music, cinema and contemporary art together with GOD HATES SPACE, an immersive audiovisual installation by GENER8ION, the creative partnership between French producer Surkin and filmmaker Romain Gavras.
The free public installation will run from October 22 to 25, 2026, at the Rotonde d’Antin inside Paris’ Grand Palais. Presented on a 12-meter double-sided screen, the experience will transform the venue into an audiovisual environment where sound, moving images and architecture meet.
The installation marks the first time the Rotonde d’Antin has been included in the Art Basel Paris program. Visitors can enter through Entrance 4 without paying admission, making the project accessible to both art fair attendees and the wider public.
GENER8ION brings music and cinema together
Known for combining musical composition with striking visual storytelling, GENER8ION has developed a creative identity that moves between electronic music, film and contemporary culture.
The duo consists of Surkin, whose real name is Benoît Heitz, and Romain Gavras, a French-Greek filmmaker known for his distinctive visual style. Their previous collaborations include the music video STORM, featuring Swedish rapper Yung Lean, which has attracted tens of millions of views online.
GOD HATES SPACE expands GENER8ION’s fragmented narrative set in the near future. The installation also draws from the world of LOVE & TEARS, the duo’s album released on June 12, 2026. The track God Hates Space, featuring 070 Shake, serves as one of the album’s opening chapters.
By bringing these elements into a physical setting, the project invites audiences to experience GENER8ION’s work beyond a conventional music video or album. The Grand Palais installation creates a meeting point for sound, film and the architecture surrounding the audience.
A collaboration spanning contemporary art and live entertainment
The presentation marks the first collaboration between Art Basel Paris and Live Nation France. Both organizations aim to create new connections between artistic disciplines and audiences, while providing opportunities for contemporary French creativity to reach people in France and internationally.
GENER8ION’s recent work has also gained international attention through STORM, featuring Yung Lean. According to the announcement, the track has surpassed 60 million Spotify streams and reached the global Shazam Top 5, including the No. 1 position in the United States and Canada. The project also received additional exposure following a performance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
Gavras’ filmmaking credits include Justice’s Stress, M.I.A.’s Born Free, Jamie xx’s Gosh and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s No Church in the Wild. His feature films include Our Day Will Come, The World Is Yours and ATHENA. His latest film, Sacrifice, is scheduled for release on Netflix on October 16, 2026, according to the announcement.
