The first official clip from How to Rob a Bank offers an early look at a heist comedy that brings online fame into the world of high-stakes robberies. Directed by David Leitch, the film arrives exclusively in theaters on Nov. 13, with Amazon MGM Studios leading its U.S. and Canadian release.
The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Anna Sawai, Rhenzy Feliz and Christian Slater. Pete Davidson and John C. Reilly also join the cast, bringing a mix of familiar faces to the upcoming production.
How How to Rob a Bank brings social media into the heist genre
The story follows a crew of tech-savvy bank robbers who broadcast their operations online. Their growing audience turns each robbery into a public spectacle. However, the attention also makes it harder for the crew to stay ahead of investigators.
A veteran FBI agent and a skilled software engineer begin closing in on the group. As their online profile grows, the robbers face a difficult balance between building their reputation and protecting their operation.
The newly released clip, titled The Odds, introduces the crew through a YouTube-style video. Bright graphics and a countdown clock give the presentation the feel of online entertainment. The sequence also shows the group escorting a pregnant woman to safety before promoting its claimed success rate for armed robberies.
This approach gives the film a modern twist on the familiar heist story. Traditionally, robbers depend on secrecy to avoid attention. Here, the crew appears eager to turn its activities into viral content. That choice could become a major weakness as investigators follow the growing online trail.
David Leitch leads an ensemble cast
Leitch directs the film from a screenplay by Mark Bianculli. His previous directing credits include Bullet Train, The Fall Guy, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2. Those films have established his experience with action-driven stories and distinctive characters.
Hoult and Kravitz lead the cast alongside Sawai, Feliz and Slater. Slater plays a character named Walton. Davidson and Reilly round out the announced principal cast, although the studio has not detailed every character’s role.
The production brings together 87North and Imagine Entertainment. Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Allan Mandelbaum, Kelly McCormick and Leitch serve as producers. Bianculli and Ben Ormand are executive producers.
Principal photography began in Pittsburgh in June 2025. Amazon MGM Studios will distribute the film in the United States and Canada, while Sony Pictures Releasing handles international markets.

When does How to Rob a Bank hit theaters?
How to Rob a Bank opens exclusively in theaters on Nov. 13. The studio previously scheduled the film for Sept. 4 before moving its release to November. Its reported runtime is approximately 122 minutes.
The first clip begins the film’s promotional push ahead of its theatrical debut. Its central premise puts a fresh spin on a familiar genre by making online attention part of the crew’s strategy.
However, public visibility can create problems when investigators are watching. As the release date approaches, the film’s mix of action, comedy and digital-age celebrity offers audiences a different take on the traditional bank heist.
