Blade Runner 2099 is heading to Prime Video with Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer leading the cast. The highly anticipated limited series will premiere globally on November 25, 2026.
Amazon MGM Studios and Alcon Television Group are producing the new installment in the science fiction franchise. The series continues the story of a world shaped by artificial intelligence, human identity and the lives of Replicants.
The production has also scheduled a press day for Friday, November 13, in West Hollywood, California. The event will offer selected media representatives opportunities to interview cast members and members of the creative team.
According to the press invitation, interviews may take place virtually and in person. However, all interview requests require approval, and talent availability may change.
What is ‘Blade Runner 2099’ about?
The story takes place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049. In this future, Los Angeles has been reborn, but humanity is no longer responsible for shaping its destiny.
The series follows Cora, a fugitive who wants to escape her troubled past. In a final attempt to stop running, she assumes a new identity and becomes a Blade Runner.
Her mission forces her to work with Olwen, a Replicant who has only days left to live. Together, they pursue a runaway who holds a secret that could threaten their already fragile city.
The dangerous investigation places both women at the center of a mystery with potentially devastating consequences. The story continues the franchise’s exploration of identity, survival and the boundaries between humans and artificial life.
