The Greek League finals ended in chaos today, and Tyrique Jones sat at the center of it. The Olympiacos big man and Panathinaikos guard Kendrick Nunn turned a tense Game 5 into one of the ugliest scenes of the European basketball season. Officials ejected both players, and the bad blood followed them off the court at SEF in Piraeus.
Footage published by the Greek outlet SDNA captured the heated moment between the two. According to the report, Nunn and Jones traded words while security staff and police tried to pull them apart. The scene briefly settled. Then Jones allegedly lunged at Nunn and tried to strike him. Officers moved in again, and the tension soon spread to other Panathinaikos players and riot police.
What set Jones and Nunn off
The trouble started on the floor late in the third quarter. Nunn picked up a foul on Olympiacos forward Sasha Vezenkov and then accused him of flopping. Jones rushed over to back his teammate. The two met face to face, then went head to head, and Jones grabbed Nunn by the throat before shoving him away. Officials ejected both men on the spot.
Olympiacos closed out the win 89 to 85 and lifted the title. The victory capped a remarkable run, since the club had already claimed the EuroLeague crown this year. It also marked a second straight Greek league championship and a rare domestic and continental double.
The fight that did not end at the buzzer
The celebration did not cool Jones down, according to multiple Greek reports. Soon after the final horn, witnesses say he found Nunn again near the locker rooms. Reports describe Jones breaking past several security officials before throwing a punch. Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman went further and accused Jones of entering their locker room area to strike his already injured guard. Riot police then stepped in once more to hold back members of the Panathinaikos group.

Two players who took different paths
Nunn built his name in the NBA before moving to Europe. He played for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards during his American career. As a rookie in Miami, he finished second to Ja Morant in Rookie of the Year voting and looked like a rising star. A serious knee injury then stalled his rise after he signed with the Lakers, and it cost him a full season. He moved to the Greek league in 2023 and grew into a featured scorer for Panathinaikos.
Jones traveled a different road. He played college basketball at Xavier and then spent his entire pro career overseas, including a stint with Partizan. This season was his first in Greece, where he anchored the Olympiacos frontcourt as a physical interior force.
What happens next
Discipline now looms over Jones. Greek basketball authorities are expected to review the incident, and a suspension and fine look likely given the severity of the footage. Olympiacos has its trophy, yet the postgame clash threatens to overshadow the achievement. For Nunn and Panathinaikos, meanwhile, a disappointing season ended with one more painful blow.
